Half Day Whitewater Trip at the Colorado River

Fun For the Whole Family

The company’s half-day trip on the Shoshone rapids its most popular one, and is perfect for families with children ages five and up.

This class III to class IV ride takes rafters on a journey through the Baptism, Tuttle’s Tumble, Tombstone, Wall, and Maneater rapids. Here, rafters get to take in the splendor of the gorgeous Glenwood Canyon, learning all about its history and geology from one of the many knowledgeable guides.

As the river calms down, there are stretches where hot springs flow into the rapids and riders can stop, soak, and indulge in the natural warm baths.

The trip comes to an end at the company’s private river ramp, where riders can de-raft and take a warm shower at the facilities before heading home.

From start to finish the trip totals 3 hours including 2.5 hours on the water and a 12-minute shuttle ride to and from the river. All half-day tours start at either 10 am or 1:30 pm and leave from the company’s location in Glenwood Springs.

How To Get There

Colorado Whitewater Rafting is located in Glenwood Springs, which is approximately a 2 ½-hour drive from Denver, a 1 ½ hour drive from Grand Junction, a one-hour drive from Vail, and a one-hour drive from Aspen.

If you are coming from Interstate 70, take Exit #114 – West Glenwood then take the round-a-bout to Midland Ave southbound. You will cross the river and make an immediate left on Devereux Rd at the Harley Davidson dealership. The facilities will be 0.4 miles down on the right. It is best to avoid exit 116 as traffic can sometimes cause extended slowdowns along this route.

Fun in Glenwood Springs

Aside for being excellent for a whitewater rafting adventure, Glenwood Springs is known for its many tourist attractions including its famous hot springs, The Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, which is the world’s largest of its kind. The water comes from the Yampah Spring, which produces an impressive 3.5 million gallons of water per day!
