As summer quickly approaches and the temperatures escalate, taking a leap into cool, fresh water seems more and more like a great idea. For those who think sitting poolside sounds a bit too boring, whitewater rafting is likely to offer the rush of adrenaline you’re looking for.

If you’ve never been before it’s easy to be intimidated, but luckily there are rafting experiences for all ages and levels of experience, making it a great choice for a family vacation activity.

What To Expect

For those who are venturing out on their first whitewater rafting experience, there are a couple of things to bear in mind. Rivers are classified on a scale of I-VI: class I being the slowest, least challenging flow, and class IV rapids featuring large waves and lightning fast rapids that are considered unrunnable.

Each raft is guided by an expert instructor, however, whitewater rafting is truly a team effort. Even on lower class rivers, expect to get a good workout in with your “teammates” as you paddle along the current.

Expect to get wet, so make sure you don’t bring any valuables including money, jewelry, or cell phones with you into the raft. Life vests are essential and are provided for you by the tour company, and a change of clothes for after you’re done rafting is also a great idea.

Why Colorado Whitewater Rafting?

For starters, Colorado Whitewater Rafting holds the distinction of being Colorado’s number one rated rafting company on the Colorado River according to Trip Advisor, and it’s also been rated “Local’s Choice” by the Glenwood Springs Post Independent.

Furthermore, the company has an impeccable safety record and employs guides who have more than a decade’s worth of rafting experience.

To create a comfortable experience for you and your family, Colorado Whitewater Rafting offers full locker room facilities with hot showers and changing rooms just steps away from the river.

Last minute reservations are almost always available, so if you haven’t planned in advance, not to worry.
